Each edition was bought in 2019 for $120,000 by the Art Basel, Miami couple Billy & Beatrice Cox and the founder of Collette, Sarah Andelman. Simply a banana duct taped to a white wall, it has spawned many interpretations and debate in the art world but according to Cattelan, “the banana is supposed to be a banana” and nothing more.
